Walking under clear skies…

Woke up early on Sunday and decided to take a stroll.
The sun was shinning, slightly warmer than usual but chilly enough for a cozy knitted scarf to keep you warm in the shade.

Did I mention the sun was shining?? :)

I laced up my bright blue Adidas retro sneakers, made sure I had my earphones and that my phone was charged and ready to play some Beyonce.

This was going to be a long one.

I started by my usual 5 minute walk past l’Arc de Triomphe, did the half circle around l’Étoile and made it to the Eiffel Tower.
I’ve never seen flowers in bloom this early (I’m Canadian… It’s still cold this time of year, as in it was MINUS 46 degrees Celsius last week!!) and I was quite surprised and excited that I could finally take a photo of the Eiffel Tower in early spring.
(I’ve been waiting for this since October, Spring is obviously my favourite season)

Once I crossed Champs de Mars, I sauntered past l’Hôtel National des Invalides on my way to St Germain des Près in the 6th arrondissement.

I came across an old Asian Theater (opened as a cinema in 1931) and couldn’t help but add ‘Watching a movie here’ on my bucket list.

I made it to where I wanted to go, St-Germain des Près, strolled the small streets wanting to stop for a café but all the outside tables were taken, and not wanting to stay inside, I kept on walking.

To my surprise, I came across le Pont des Arts filled with couples & friends clicking locks one by one.
I’ve been meaning to visit this as well so I’m glad I came upon it without even knowing it. ☺

I made it to The Louvre Museum to visit the Pyramid and couldn’t believe how pretty the sun was reflecting on the water below the Pyramid but couldn’t believe how many people were there!
Sidenote: I should of known, museums are free of charge the first Sunday of every month.

The entrance to les Jardins des Tuileries is something to be seen, the vast green spaces and statues to follow are a work of art…
The long gardens lead to where Marie Antoinette and many others met their fate, La Concorde.

Les Champs Élysées easily led me home, back to the start, l’Arc de Triomphe.

A total of almost 14 kms… but to be honest, I didn’t go into it wanting to get a good workout, or walk at a certain pace, or hit a certain time.

It was an easy walk with no agenda in particular, to appreciate the scenery and even more so, appreciate seeing people from different walks of life enjoying Paris for what it truly is and what is has to offer.

I’m convinced there isn’t a city as magical as Paris.
Even in the daytime. ;)
